Apologies if I am posting to the wrong thread - I'm not a regular user of boards and I know you guys can get pretty annoyed when the answer to my question is already out there. I've been searching forever and cant seem to get it right.

I am using the multicolumn command within tabularx and am not getting any joy. I want to organise it so that the top line spans across two separate columns and wraps itself appropriately, but I cant get it working.

I don't think tabularx is gaining you anything here, most of the table data is numeric so can't line wrapped to different lengths. I think I'd do something more like this, perhaps some more refinements but...

@nobleda it's possible to make it a bit more automatic and if you were printing database output with thousands of tables a week you would want that, but if it was my data and my table, I'd do it by hand and not use tabularx (even if I wrote that package:-) –  David Carlisle Jun 14 '13 at 17:41
