I am trying to use the solution here Converting sty and bst files to lyx layout in order to import the sty files defined for the document type I need to write. I am actually writing my thesis. The files are available at http://www2.imm.dtu.dk/teaching/thesis/thesis-template-2012.zip, but I cannot find a way to use the .sty file in Lyx.

I have followed scrupulously answer cited before but I get the following error:

Anybody has some hints?

The LukeThesis.layout file in the ./lyx/layout folder is the following:

\DeclareLaTeXClass[report, LukeThesis.sty]{report (LukeThesis)}

Preamble
    \usepackage{LukeThesis}
EndPreamble

Format 35
Input stdclass.inc
Input numreport.inc

Where is LukeThesis.sty? –  Ulrike Fischer Jul 9 '13 at 14:53

The LukeThesis.sty is in my the ./.lyx/layout/ directory –  MixturaDementiae Jul 9 '13 at 14:53

That's probably the wrong place. It should go in \tex\latex\lukethesis in your local texmf-tree (or in the current directory of your document (beside newfile2.tex) but I don't know what the current directory is if you use Lyx). –  Ulrike Fischer Jul 9 '13 at 14:57

I am running ubuntu linux and I have installed lyx by sudo apt-get lyx, thus all with the default options. Where can I find the texmf-tree directory? –  MixturaDementiae Jul 9 '13 at 14:59

I have tried to put LukeThesis.sty in the same directory as the dummy file I am trying to compile and I got the following error ! LaTeX Error: Option clash for package inputenc. See the LaTeX manual or LaTeX Companion for explanation. Type H <return> for immediate help. ... l.16 \usepackage [T1]{fontenc} %Set font encoding ... The package inputenc has already been loaded with options: [latin9] –  MixturaDementiae Jul 9 '13 at 15:02
