# Remove punctuation (comma) after volume number in biblatex

Using this code:

\documentclass[a4paper,twoside]{memoir}

\isopage
\usepackage{etex,setspace,excludeonly,ifthen,etoolbox,logreq,makeidx,cals,graphicx}
\usepackage[english]{babel}
\usepackage[style=british]{csquotes}
\usepackage[style=philosophy-classic,firstinits,uniquename=init,natbib=true,backend=biber,indexing=true,defernumbers=true]{biblatex}

\end{document}

and this bibliography entry in thesis.bib

I get in my bibliography:

volume.number, pp. ...

I wish to remove the comma after number but deleting \addcomma does not make any difference to the final output. Do I need a \renewcommand instead or a tweak to my existing code?

Hi! Please make your code compilable, starting with \documentclass{...} and ending with \end{document}. That may seem tedious to you, but think of the extra work it represents for TeX.SX users willing to help you. Help them help you: remove that one hurdle between you and a solution to your problem. – yo' Nov 18 '13 at 12:27
I think I've done this now. – DGarside Nov 19 '13 at 21:08
@DGarside Add the following to you preamble if you want to replace the punctuation in front of the page numbers by a space: \renewcommand*{\bibpagespunct}{\addspace} Naturally you can also remove the space or use a different separator. Note that your example is not exactly minimal, and it also does not compile in the present form. Among other things, the prenote={JoPE} does not compile, you don't cite any of the references and Crossref = {9BaileyHandbook2010} is not provided. – Manfred Sauter Nov 26 '13 at 16:46

You only need one line

\renewcommand*{\bibpagespunct}{\addspace}

This tells biblatex to only put a space right before the pages, no other punctuation.

You can force this for @articles only by using

\renewcommand*{\bibpagespunct}{%
\ifentrytype{article}
