I need to prepare a list of items

  • item name ----- A.1
  • item name ----- A.2
  • item name ----- B.1
  • item name is pretty long, so aligning is gone ----- B.2
  • item name is so long it goes to next line ------ B.3

and so on. In fact, if you feel there is a better way of listing this items (this are actually the list of enclosing documents along with a letter) Please suggest so.

New item triggers increment of numbers. What causes the change of alphabets? – Pouya Apr 3 '14 at 12:55
Please post a Minimal (non-)Working Example which demonstrates at least some effort on your part, even if that's just the basic document framework with an example of the list you are describing. This makes it a lot easier for people to help you. – cfr Apr 3 '14 at 21:51
