When I try to compile my document I get the following errors:

  1. Index style file PhD_Research_Proposal.ist not found
  2. pdflatex.exe: The memory dump file could not be found
  3. texify: pdflatex.exe failed for some reason (see log file)

Welcome to TeX SE. The error is pretty self-explanatory, I think. As you note, it cannot find PhD_Research_Proposal.ist, for example. Do you have this file? Is it in your working directory? Etc. – cfr Apr 3 '14 at 21:44

If pdflatex can't find the format it can't work. Try to recreate the pdflatex format in miktex settings. Do you get an error? – Ulrike Fischer Apr 4 '14 at 9:12

Welcome to TeX.SX! You can have a look at our starter guide to familiarize yourself further with our format. A suggestion: Do us a favour and change your username to something more telling than "user1234". – Martin Schröder Apr 4 '14 at 9:33

@CFR the *.ist file is not on my working directory. Like I said, the WinEdt 6.0 was working fine without any errors. But when I run the same thing with WinEdt 8.0 thats when I encounter problems. @ Ulrike I will try to recreate the pdflatex format and see the outcome – Kaygee Magee Apr 6 '14 at 4:26
