# How to modify the appendix chapter numbering?

I have:

\appendix
\chapter{Title}
\section{Intro}

and it appears.

Appendix A
Title
A.1 Intro

I would like to have the same except the "A.1 Intro" but instead "1.Intro"

How to remove the "A."?

Welcome to TeX.sx! A tip: If you indent lines by 4 spaces, then they are marked as a code sample. You can also highlight the code and click the "code" button (with "{}" on it). You don't have to sign with your name since it automatically appears in the lower right corner of your post. – egreg Jun 28 '11 at 12:49

Just change the representation for section numbers:

\appendix
\renewcommand{\thesection}{\arabic{section}}

\chapter{Title}
\section{Intro}\label{appsec:intro}

Remember, though, that references such as \ref{appsec:intro} will appear just as "1", without any clue for the appendix "number".

Thanks. It works nicely :) – Fred Jun 29 '11 at 12:52
@Fred: Please note that the answer which helped you the most should be 'accepted' by clicking the tick-symbol on the left. This marks the question as solved and assigns points to the answerer and also you. – Martin Scharrer Jun 29 '11 at 12:58

Place \renewcommand{\thesection}{\arabic{section}} after \appendix to change the section numbers.

Thanks again Martin :). – Fred Jun 29 '11 at 12:52
