I am wring a research report in (theoretical) computer science. It does not target at any conference or journal at this stage. The only requirement is "LaTeX, article, 11pt, a4.". I am wondering if there is any conventional style, especially for margins and font for this kind of paper, to make it looks more professional and prettier...

Could anyone suggest? Thank you very much

If this is going into a larger collection of reports and other papers, it's possible the editors just want the LaTeX sources to combine into the final document, and use the few requirements given to help authors make sure they don't miss page count requirements. – Mike Renfro Aug 13 '11 at 21:38

If those are the verbatim requirements, then I interpret it as \documentclass[11pt,a4paper]{article} without any modifications to the style, margins, or fonts. – godbyk Aug 13 '11 at 23:47
