# Insert a blank page after current page

I want to insert a blank page in a document so that the text would be added to the content of the current page till it reaches end of the page, the next page would be empty, and the text continue from the third page!

If I used `\afterpage{\newpage}` but it just does not work! what should I do?

Do you want the page counter to increment across the blank page, e.g., to go from p.7 to p. 9? –  Mico Dec 2 '11 at 10:49

You should use the `afterpage` package.

In the preamble :

``````\usepackage{afterpage}
\newcommand\blankpage{%
\null
\thispagestyle{empty}%
\newpage}
``````

EDIT: I removed the `makeatletter` mention, since it is useless, and changed the `\clearpage` by `\newpage`.

In the text before the blank page, insert the following code:

``````\afterpage{\blankpage}
``````

It should do the trick. Be aware that unresolved floats might be a trouble here.

You don’t actually need `\makeatletter` or `\makeatother`, as you don’t use any `@` commands. And I think the OP wanted the text to continue till the end of page, so you could remove the `\vfill` too. –  Karl Ove Hufthammer Dec 2 '11 at 10:53
To avoid problems with pending floats being written to the blank page, could you replace the final statement of the `\blankpage` macro, `\clearpage`, with `\newpage`? –  Mico Dec 2 '11 at 10:56
You just need something – anything – before or after the `\newpage` command. Try
``````\afterpage{\null\newpage}
