This isn't a lot of information to go on. Is the image an EPS file that you are placing with eso-pic or is the image generated by PSTricks? Can you make a sample document that shows some of the relevant code? – Alan Munn Feb 5 '12 at 17:40

If its a background image, its opacity doesn't matter, does it? Can you just generate it with lighter colors? – Michael Palmer Feb 5 '12 at 17:52
@Michael Palmer I just did and I tired to sharpen it a bit. The image belongs to a friend of mine who gave me fairly low resolution .jpeg. It was a hard thing to work with. – Predrag Punosevac Feb 5 '12 at 18:48

Oh a low resolution jpeg on a large poster will just look horrible. Just find a better picture. – Michael Palmer Feb 5 '12 at 19:14
@Michael Palmer I got two much, much better picture from him an hour ago. Check out the poster now. I think it looks OK. Word State is not too readable but I like how the thing feels now. I did not want to brighten the picture – Predrag Punosevac Feb 5 '12 at 23:00
