I'm new to Latex, Linux and math.

I am currently climbing the (to me) sisyphean hill of writing an article in LaTex for an assigment on exponential population growth, using Ubuntu Linux's default spreadsheet, LibreCalc.

Anyone able to help me how to, with kind regard for my stated thrice-new-born status? Question: how to avoid Tex opening up large white space: whenever I do a quickbuild, it seems I get a new page, largely empty.

(I looked at three or four of the suggested prior posts but couldn't find any targeted help.)

It's hard to provide effective help with such little information. What kind of material are you typesetting and how are you doing it? Even better, can you please edit your question and give us a minimal working example illustrating the problem? – Gonzalo Medina Jul 22 '12 at 1:01

Perhaps this will provide some help: Remove vertical space at start of latex document. – Peter Grill Jul 22 '12 at 1:04
go ahead and paste the contents of your .tex document into the question body – jlovegren Jul 22 '12 at 3:08
