I messed up bigtime: My Auctex is not loading anymore, neither the keybindings. I was trying to organize files, but in the process the only thing that didn't work, which is huge, is Auctex.

I moved all my .emacs.d (and extensions) to a different folder, and after I found auctex not to be working, I moved everything back. Didn't work, then used an old .emacs. still same problem. Then I reinstalled Auctex, but still no succes. The only clue I have is "void variable name: "LaTeX-mode-map".

Any ideas how to continue?

I am sorry for such a broad question, but I would appreciate how to go about these disasters. – Dualinity Sep 2 '12 at 15:08
I discovered it is just simply not running Auctex anymore for some reason, though it still goes into tex-mode. I can also still use latex-mode. ideas? – Dualinity Sep 3 '12 at 12:27
I found out I had to put (require 'tex-site) in my emacs. Could anyone explain why I never had this and it worked, and now it needs the require? Thanks :) – Dualinity Sep 3 '12 at 13:00
This looks very localised, and also borderline 'off topic', I'm afraid. – Joseph Wright Oct 6 '12 at 21:52
