I am trying to build a file in TeXnicCenter and it's crashing.

While it is running, on the output dialog box I get

`LaTeX Warning: Reference 'fig:cloud' on page 7 undefined on input line 222`
`LaTeX Warning: Citation 'Max' on page 7 undefined on input line 260`.

The thing is that these references were working about an hour ago. Because this is a subfile I stopped the building process and tried to build the main file. This gave me the exact same error.

I restarted twice my PC but this didn't solve anything at all. Do you think that there is another solution apart from format or installing another MikTeX distribution (I am curently using 2.8 in Windows Vista)?

I also tried Texmaker but it's not working either. It is exactly the same.

P.S.: I am currently writing my thesis so I don't think I can afford a possible error during format proccess.

Those are not errors. If you get real errors, try first removing the .aux file (and possibly .toc, .lof and .lot files) which will be recreated. Those warnings are normal, as LaTeX doesn't know, when the .aux file doesn't exist or you've added a new \label to what object a \ref command refers to. – egreg Sep 21 '12 at 10:26
You should definitely not reinstall MikTeX just because something in your document is not working! If it worked before, the distribution is working ok. You can not break it by making changes in your document. Delete temporary files as suggested above. If you work in a TeXnicCenter project, there is something like a "Clen Project" option somewhere. If references can not be found a bibtex/biber run might be required and after further compilation runs this warning will disappear – Martin H Sep 21 '12 at 11:00

Have you tried to compile 2 or 3 times? Does the warnings appear in the next runs as well? Remember, the way LaTeX resolves cross-referencing depends on the previous run of latex! – tohecz Sep 21 '12 at 11:34
Perhaps I didn't say it right... Building process is forever running! It never stops. I deleted all associated files apart from .tex. But the building process still never ends... – Thanos Sep 21 '12 at 11:50

The last table of chapter2 seems to be the problem. There is a brace too much: \multicolumn{1}{c}{$\mathbf{\mu^+}$}. Beside this: there are other error messages. You should correct them. – Ulrike Fischer Sep 21 '12 at 13:16
