I am using MiKTeX in PC with WinEDT 6.0 version. I want to use a new Type1 font for one of my document and I have *.afm and *.PFB files with me. How can I install a font newly and what are the map files need to be updated for that. Please guide me step by step.

Please tell us the name of the font. Do you use pdfLaTeX or LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX? – Kurt Oct 17 '12 at 15:47
@Kurt: It is clearly a Type1 font, see Wikipedia entry PostScript fonts. And: For installing the LaTeX variant is not important. – Speravir Oct 17 '12 at 20:12

@Speravir: Asking for for the engine has a reason: perhaps there is a open type font to avoid loading a type 1 font ... – Kurt Oct 17 '12 at 20:33
