I'm using LyX in Linux and saved the protected and edited template under my given name to workspace. The assigned picture is to be 64pix (as in template) and renamed to CV-image. nevertheless, i get an export error at pdf-preview. I can disable (%) in document properties, it opens just fine. Would love to include it though - what is the hint? Great appreciation in advance, been trying all day (renaming, moving files, setting options in the document preferences).

The template in original (read only) mode, which came with LyX displays the example picture properly - after re-saving it and editing it, even with assigned picture in same folder, the .log states the above warnings. please excuse for writing in answer section- it is for overview purpose.

\photo[height]{name}. For example \photo[2 cm]{myphoto}. Of course, you must have a myphoto.jpg or myphoto.png in the same directory. – Fran Oct 18 '12 at 17:25
:-D did i.e. as written in the following basic links "cv-image" not found as in the example above. even when i rename and move to the same folder – hanswurst Oct 18 '12 at 17:32
@Fran: be careful, in the new version of moderncv the macro is \photo[height][framethickness]{filename}. With \photo[2cm][0pt]{myphoto} the frame around the picture is deleted. Otherwise ([5pt]) the line around the picture is 5pt thick. – Kurt Oct 18 '12 at 17:45
mine is as stated above, template came fresh with newly installed lyx out of the mintInstall 7.3.5 – hanswurst Oct 18 '12 at 17:51

You should either

  • use \photo[64pt]{CV-image} and name your picture CV-image.jpg (or .png or .pdf, assuming pdf output), or
  • use \photo[64pt]{cv-image} and name your picture cv-image.jpg (or .png or .pdf),

but you can't, as you seem to be currently doing, request moderncv to include a picture called cv-image, but name your image CV-image (notice the capitals). Linux is case sensitive.
