I'm trying to do a table which has a different number of columns in every row. Is there an alternative to multicolumn?

With a different number of columns in every row, it might be hard pressed to be called a 'table', and may even be a 'drawing' (and so qualify for a TiKz solution!). If you could post something showing what you need, we may better be able to help. – Brent.Longborough Jan 27 at 14:09

A latex tabular has no requirement to fill every column, if you use *{50}{c} then each row may have any number up to 50 cells. – David Carlisle Jan 27 at 14:15
You build can buy complicated tables by nest one tabular inside another. – Sveinung Jan 27 at 16:18
