Ghostscript is a Postscript and PDF interpreter and rendering engine developed under the GPL license. Ghostscript also works as a file format converter between PostScript and PDFas well as a "virtual printer" for PDF creators.
Ghostscript is commonmly used with GhostView which is a graphical interface to the interpreter.
