it works and I turned the flag for the showframe off after the distance for the adjustwidth was found (\usepackage[showframe=false]{geometry})

thanks for explaining this, it makes sense even though my background is not wide enough to follow it all. So it means that I have to create discontinuous flow in the text with the track changes tags :( Well, if there is no other way.

thanks! So by installing the TeXLive, an editor that has buttons for compiling the LaTeX, will know automatically where the distribution is? And if I want to install a new style file is there a package updater?
