The tip of the arrow follows a Brachistochrone curve. If you flip the curve upside-down it is the curve of fastest descent, as first noted by Johann Bernoulli. In short, if you slide on such a curve you go from start to any point below it in shortest time. Animation of that fact will be a nice project.

@Werner it solves the height problem, but I still need to adjust the width/length so that arrows have the same length. I suppose I should use a \hphantom too. But when I do it does not center correctly.
