Nice! Perfect! I was deep in glossaries.pdf trying to figure out ... something :) I hope to use your answer as a template to also tweak even more! Thanks for the Notes.

Okay, I did stumble upon glossariesbegin.pdf on mirrors.ibiblio.org mentioning other styles but didn't say how to create one. I'm not that advanced ;) Do you have a template or a link?

I see - I tried what you say and see that. Because I'll have many linkbacks to text from the glossary I kind of like the 3 column approach though... Any ideas?

Well I tried it with glossarystyle `super3col' and I have the same result. Are you suggesting I need to pick a different glossary style? Or two columns only?

comment An even more flexible derivative macro?
@Joseph Wright Very helpful!! A request (I couldn't get it to work), could one use the last argument as an optional point of evaluation, like \left|_{#9} \right. kind of thing?

I've noticed that ordering is important for hyperref (probably other) and will review tex.stackexchange.com/questions/1863/… . Your solution worked for me in the little MWE as well as my big beast :) Still trying to get to that level of reading .cls files and those things...

Thanks for the comments about compatability with AMS. Heard tocloft was a great and powerful package to do this with :( Here is my new MWE which is now under 500 lines!
