comment How to typeset flowcharts in LaTeX?
I should add that functional is better than fancy, and for this question implicitly the smaller the learning curve the better (this is to recommend for use by some friends who are not too familiar with TeX and so the simpler and the easier to learn the better).

comment Is there any way to get real-time compilation for LaTeX?
By the way, the shell scripts listed are given for bash, which newer OSX machines defaults to. The older ones default to tcsh, so I am not completely sure if the second one will work.

comment Setting class options after \documentclass
Oh, and I completely agree with the headache on title pages. Some journals want \thanks to go inside the \author, some outside; some uses \email, some \ead; sometimes orders of commands make a huge deal. Ugh.

Question: when you submit to the journal, do you also include your meta class file in the submission? Somehow the journal needs to be able to compile the TeX file you submit, right? That said, this is a very neat idea! I am especially impressed by that last bit about lectures. Is there any chance you can share this class file?

Just want to address my previous comment: the author got back to me and it will be fixed in the next version (2.3)

texcount is pretty neat, especially the friendly online interface. One caveat: it recognizes align, equation, [ ], and $ as defining math environments (and possibly more). But it somehow misses align*.

It'd be great if you can provide a summary of what they found to eventually work. (The answer on the second page of that thread.) This is since (a) a summary can be much more readable and (b) just in case link-rot sets in and that thread disappears. I know this is Ubuntu we are talking about, but .... just in case.
