comment LyX Cross Referencing in Different Language not working
@Calculonne that has nothing to do with it. In fact if it is more important if they are not linked. It's considered polite to make it as easy as possible for everyone to find out what efforts have been made towards finding a solution.

comment How to insert hebrew In backround (with Tikz) in Lyx
@eyesky I don't know. I'm curious though, are you able to compile the Hebrew documents that come with LyX? Go to file > open, click on "examples" button, then click on the "he" folder and open up "splash.lyx". Then click on the eyeballs. Does it work? I can compile the Hebrew splash as well as the Hebrew Introduction and Tutorial and they all seem to produce good output. I'm curious if this might be an alternative solution to you using culmus. Note however, that I'm on Ubuntu.

I'm a little confused. From what I understand you only care about your other question now and this one is irrelevant, right? If so, we should add a solution and carry discussion on over there.

@eyesky please also see my comment there for posting the full .lyx file (which is just text).

comment TeXlive on Ubuntu, and equivs?
interesting. by "should be" do you mean "already are"? Also note that the following is a related Evince/apparmor ubuntu bug report: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/888789

comment I have two versions of Texlive on Ubuntu and I don't know how to indicate that one should be used
You might be interested in github.com/scottkosty/install-tl-ubuntu For a minimal installation, take a look at the --profile option and the example.profile file.

I'd be very interested in your thoughts on a solution if you have a chance to look at that issue. I tried a few different things and nothing worked.

comment TeXlive on Ubuntu, and equivs?
I have the same problem when installing texmaker after running install-tl-ubuntu: github.com/scottkosty/install-tl-ubuntu I'm not convinced adding tex-common to the control file is the right solution. Last time I checked, there were binaries in tex-common package not installed with install-tl-ubuntu. However, at least one other person agrees with you that it should be added. For a discussion on the root problem of this, see github.com/scottkosty/install-tl-ubuntu/pull/10

comment Lyx 2.1, Book(standard class), need to implement openany
LyX crashes? What is the message you received? Does it still crash if you do the same thing with a 5 page document? if so, can you make a minimal example? If this is urgent, can't you always just manually remove some of the pages? On Ubuntu, for example, I would recommend pdftk.

comment How to change the indents between LaTeX formulas and text in Lyx
@PhysiXxx there seems to be some confusion regarding what you would like. I infer this from the first comment as well as from Jim's "Maybe this is what you want". Please post a minimal example .tex file and .lyx file, and try to explain more clearly what you would like in the output.

@eyesky is this quetion related to tex.stackexchange.com/questions/196771/…? Are you saying that you already solved that question?

comment lyx with background won't load unless I type \newpage after the text
I took your latex code and ran pdflatex directly on it (I had to remove loading of culmus though) three times and got what I believe to be what you expected as the output. I then opened LyX 2.1.1 on Ubuntu and went to file > import > LaTeX (plain) and viewed the output and it produced the same output as running pdflatex manually. Did you try importing the .tex file? In the future, when you post your .lyx example (which is indeed a great idea!) just post the entire .lyx file. It's just text, after all.

comment Bibliographies by chapter using bibtopic on classicthesis LyX port
@hspitia Nice, clear question. If you have the time it would be great if you could answer your own question with detailed steps. Some users have trouble setting up LyX with biblatex so a clear example (your answer) would be nice to have for us to refer them to.

@user24098 to be clear, Christian is suggesting that you accept answers that answer your question. This is helpful when someone has the same problem and wants to know the solution that worked for you, and it's a way of thanking those that spent time trying to help you. comment Customizing LyX Shortcuts
@inspectorG4dget did you try what Rasmus suggested? Also, consider updating your LyX installation (although make sure everything is backed up). 2.0.6 is now considered old.

comment From LyX to LaTeX and back without losing information
In general, whenever you export/import anything, information will be lost (there are of course examples, but LyX is not one). For example, if you convert a .jpg to .gif and then back to .jpg.
