comment Embed Latex equation in LyX
Regarding "but you wont get the preview", unless you use a TeX box (Insert > Preview). But I agree that it is better as you suggest to paste directly into a math inset.

comment Can't Make pdf of Math Help Document in Lyx 2.14
Could be as @Bernard said, but (1) I don't see this error on Ubuntu with TeX Live 2015, and even if it is the case, we still need to provide compatibility for TeX Live 2014, so I suppose that we should do something like "if defined".

comment How can I type Genzen style deduction in LyX?
Note that one of LyX's main developers is a philosopher: brown.edu/academics/philosophy/richard-heck . If you have a question and it is not answered here, write to lyx-users@lists.lyx.org.

comment LyX 2.1.4 does't load Document Classes after using Reconfigure
I see. I hope that you can post this information as well as the output from the reconfigure, on a bug report at lyx.org/trac . The only way we can fix the bug is if we know about it and I've never heard of this one before.

comment LyX 2.1.4 does't load Document Classes after using Reconfigure
Did you put the new file in the system LyX layouts folder or the user dir layouts folder? The user dir layouts folder is the correct place for user layouts. Also, what is the output of reconfigure? You should be able to see it in view > messages pane.

comment Curly braces disappear when reloading LyX document
If LyX shows something different after you reopen the .lyx file, that is likely a LyX bug. Can you please open a bug report at lyx.org/trac ? If you do not want to do that, can you please post a minimal example .lyx file? Note that a .lyx file is just plain text so you can copy/paste.

@egreg can you make an answer saying to put \textdegree in the preamble? Don't forget to add to your answer "This is another reason why you shouldn't use LyX" :)

@Danbo3004 Thank you for posting the file. However, it is not a minimal example. For more information, please see wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/MinimalExample . Next time, please post a minimal example. I was able to make a minimal example from your file. I think this is indeed a LyX bug. I will look into it. For now, you can just add \usepackage{textcomp} at Document > Settings > LaTeX Preamble. Does that work?

For me the output has TRUE where the Sexpr is. Can you please post a minimal .Rnw example?

comment Caption of figure in list of figures in Lyx
Just as a note, I believe that LyX has improved things in later versions (I believe as of 2.1.0) so that the "opt" box now says "Short Title".

Can you please post a minimal example of this? This could be a LyX bug. Ideally, LyX should load the package for you. If you post the .lyx file we can fix the bug at the source. Either post the .lyx file here and I'll take a look at it or open a bug report at lyx.org/trac. Please also put what LyX version you are using.

Consider using a fixed width for the column. Does that help?

comment Lyx outline pane and menu truncating titles after N chars
The work around is easy if you happen to have Ubuntu and can recompile. Just change the line static int const TOC_ENTRY_LENGTH = 40; and recompile (see Torbjorn's link).

This question was posted somewhere else (or maybe here but a different question), but I forget where. Can you please link to your other question?
