@NicolaTalbot I added the error message. The picture has exactly the same properties as the black one I included.

@musicman I tried \hfill for all three lines, but just the first one was displayed on the right, see included picture.

@daleif I will retag my question. Is there a way that math-code is displayed using the amssymb?

comment Table in a mathematical paper
In the very left should stand $\mathcal{P}\backslash e$ like on the very top row for $\mathcal{P}/e$. Such that both the very top row and the very left column look the same (for \mathcal{P}/e and \mathcal{P}\backslash e respectively.)

comment \setcounter{tocdepth}
@ barbara beeton: Thank you for your answer. I tried to use \addtocontents{toc}{\setcounter{tocdepth}{0}} in the section. The gap is still there in the table of content. Maybe my question was not that clear. I edited it.

comment \setcounter{tocdepth}
adding \addtocontents{toc}{\setcounter{tocdepth}{0}} after the section, which should not be in the table of content does not solve my probelm. I still get this gap between "Application" and "References"

Thanks you both for your comments. Sorry if my questions was not that clear. My first chapter is the Introduction. There I do not want to subdivide it into different sections. But I also want that a Theorem is stated like: Theorem 1.1.1 instead of Theorem 1.0.1

comment two questions about amsart
what do you mean with incomplete? What's missing is the the text itself and \end{document} but this doesn't matter, right?
