comment Beamer poster theorem style without boxes
For what it's worth, in order to avoid getting Theorem 1 (), I need to use \empty and not \@empty.

comment Including BibTex references from files
Are you putting a single reference in each bib file? I can't see any other reason why you'd need to be updating the files so frequently that doing it by hand would be too much. You can put all the references in one file. Edit: Have just seen your comment above. Dirk's right, combine the files separate from tex.

comment Scaling TikZ figures for poster
I think this is the answer for the future, at least for things that are liable to become posters. Right now, I'd rather avoid having to redo the figures.

comment Scaling TikZ figures for poster
The method in the TikZ manual works. Curiously, none of the examples of the external library given in other posts work. Something fails in tikzexternalshared.code.tex, but I haven't got the time or the patience to sort it out now.

As irritating a solution as that is to execute, it's probably the easiest. Plus, you've told me that the standalone class exists, which is surely useful.

comment Drawing path diagrams with minimal effort?
I think there's an example very much along these lines in the TikZ manual, actually.

comment Reference to a figure uses the section's number
Thanks, I completely failed to parse your original comment correctly. The single section thing was a red herring--I was the one who did the figures in that section. Someone else did the others.

To clarify, it's an problem throughout the section, not just on one figure (only the one broken section, though).

comment How to reference part of a theorem?
Ah, I wasn't the down vote; I was just speculating. I have no idea what the objection could have been other than someone thinking it didn't answer the question, since people seemed to read it different ways.

comment How to reference part of a theorem?
Michael's second suggestion is what I was after. We'll see what people say about consistency between labels and references (if anyone notices). My feeling is that having the labels appear as 2.1.1, 2.1.2, etc looks really cluttered, especially with 'Corollary 2.1' right above.

comment How to reference part of a theorem?
It does get the job done, as far as I can tell. I'm inclined to think Gonzalo's solution is more elegant or at least allows for more flexibility. (What I was actually after was Michael's comment to Gonzalo's answer.)
