comment What are all the font styles I can use in math mode?
I don't think asking these kinds of questions in this comment thread is likely to get much attention by anyone who's able and willing to help. You guys are better off creating a new question for this. You can reference this post if you think it's relevant.

comment Why does \usepackage[british]{babel} change the hyphenation to wrong?
This is very interesting and I especially like the part where we are warned that even in the UK hyphenation might transform from an obscure etymological art to something one can actually perform just by speaking the language ;) But since "alternate" comes from Latin "alternatus", I can't see how altern-ate is necessarily the more etymologically correct hyphenation. Anyway, I think Barbara gave a very good clue by finding an Oxford dictionary that actually differs from the current (?) one. Whatever its reasons may be.

comment How can I use \lVert and \rVert norm symbols (‖x‖) with the Iwona math font?
Two years have gone by without any reply and without the problem being fixed so it's probably safe to say by now that Iwona Math is no longer actively supported.

@Szczypawka Most universal ... probably. But also a measure of last resort.

@cfr I don't perceive this as an issue that depends on the side of the Atlantic you're on. Hart's Rules for example also prescribe the footnote going after the punctuation. And, again as a European, I'd say every sane style guide does. At least it's true, if you put the punctuation after the footnote mark, kerning is the least of your worries. BTW, fnpct include a mode that switches the position of footnote and punctuation mark.

@cfr I am European, too, so I'm not quite sure I know what you are hinting at.

Made warning about not using the code from this question more prominent in accordance with Clément's comment.

@Clément Not sure about this. Strictly speaking, this question is off-topic here and belongs on a typography site. De facto, this is the best typography SX site. That other question, which is actually about how to achieve such kerning in LaTeX, is linked, although not prominently. I think I will put a more prominent notice there, even though it messes up the edit structure ;)
