May 18	comment	Expl variable assignments not behaving as I expect `n` type arguments (for the most part) are passed as is, there's no expansion or replacement. So you're asking whether the sting `\controlsequence` is equal to `-NoValue-`. Can you use an optional with default value `;`?

That way you get the numbering that you like, and the reader has easy access to the statements rather than having to find them in an appendix. (this may be the same suggestion that vonbrand made) What sort of document is it?

At some point, people will start to doubt the sincerity of the questions (i.e do you want to learn how to improve the code yourself, or do you just want someone else to do it for you). It looks like you're getting close to that point. I'm not expressing an opinion one way or the other, just rationalizing the close votes if you're confused by them.
