comment Drawing knots with 8 crossings and labels
Actually the knot code is in pst-psm.pro which is read at the dvips stage. It is located under /usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/dvips/pst-knot/pst-psm.pro on my system. In that file you will find things like /knot-7-6 followed by points described in polar coordinates and then the path specified with outgoing angles and over/under crossings.

Why not have a look at the code in the pst-knot package, i.e. the file pst-knot.sty, and try to adapt the code there. If you run latex on a file using pst-knot the log file will give the complete path to locate this style file.

Actually your log shows enough information. Your beamer class is very old - from 2005. You should update your system.

(a) you should add that to this question, not start a new question - just use the edit button (b) you forgot to add \listfiles before compiling, it is just the output of that command that would be most interesting.

comment can someone please explain the enumitem horizontal spacing parameters?
@FionaSmith Glad it helped. No problem about the boundy, Bernards answer is good.

I don't see such an effect. (May be it is a viewer problem.) Can you add \listfiles to the beginning of your document and post the resulting list of file versions?

@SvendTveskæg Both will work (try changing removing the locale change). For a native Portuguese speaker the comma will be most natural.

Please post a minimal working example (MWE) showing what you have so far causing this output.

I second Johannes_B's request for a MWE. Your posted bib file compiles fine a minimal document, so the problem lies elsewhere.

@SvendTveskæg Thanks, thats interesting. I have updated my answer with a variation on that.

comment Import a template from a zip file
You need to unpack the zip file, either by double clicking on it or using unzip. You will then get a directory containing the template and related files. It is the template in this directory that you should open.

+1 You might add some labels to show this work correctly too.

comment problem on the parentheses direction in equations
That is essentially what I meant by saying "normally I would write such chunks in \text". However, the \mathit version may be more appropriate inside some right-to-left material, where mathematics still has to be left-to-right. We don't really have enough context from the poster.

comment mdframed: option thmmarks of ntheorem affects vertical skip after theorem
Given that mdframed tries to cope with ntheorem I guess this could be regarded as a bug. Your work around code does not work for me and I have not found an alternative.

comment Why default paragraph indents disappeared after I use a tocloft package?
By default the first paragraph after the heading is not indented, cf. tex.stackexchange.com/q/29731/15925. If that is not the problem, then you will need to post a complete document minimal working example (MWE) to show the rest of your set-up.

comment PGF loop - how to use an array inside pgfmathdeclare function?
The array is defined at outer level so persists in lower level groups. The global there could be useful if you later package this up in something else.
