As I can see the command \insti is for internal use. Please not use it. Without \insti the given MWE complies here. What do you want to get with \insti?. You should update to the current moderncv package and have a look into the examples.

Canyou complete your piece of code to be compilable? I do not know this package and it is much more easier for me to copy a code to my computer and compile it to see what is going on. It is not fun for me to read a manual to understand how a minimal working example has to be build. If you not know what a MWE is please just follow the given link in the comment before. Thanks!
