Yes, thanks for the help. I still think this answer is a bit far from being a complete solution; but at least it points to “a direction” of how to implement this. I'll award you the bounty as there is no other answer. Will try to work more on it myself and see if I can eventually produce something more robust, perhaps suitable for publishing as a package.
