A computer science lecturer at University College London. I do stuff in logic, theorem proving, program analysis and verification. I'm a very enthusiastic TeX/LaTeX user, most days.
I also run a small site for LaTeX beginners in spanish: LaTeX Fácil.

How do I avoid clashes with macro names in packages? well, you already gave the answer in your question :D Yeah, I also use something like \my@.. but of course it's not 100% reliable. |

How do I create parallel text aligned by paragraph? Could you tell which packages you have already tried? Would something like a long table, where you type each paragraph into a cell, be useful to you? |

Removing spaces between “words” in math mode That's what I tried to say with "appropriate spaces" in the first sentence, but I probably was't explicit enough. :P |

Squeezing scientific paper to fit within page limits Could you briefly describe a few of those tools/tricks here? It's fine to include a link to your website but, whenever possible, we want answers to be hosted in the site. See meta.tex.stackexchange.com/questions/227/… |

How can I test if a command is followed by an argument? Excellent, thanks! I found about \futurelet but somehow I couldn't figure out how to test for } or put all of it together. This works nicely! |

How can I test if a command is followed by an argument? @SSharpie, I was looking for a TeX answer, but a LaTeX one would also be welcome |

What are the available “documentclass” types and their uses? I think this question is too open ended and just voted to close. There are literally thousands of classes out there. I would be much more interested in similar questions by topic, e.g. we already have classes for letters, maybe also classes for slides, classes for cv's, etc. People will search by topic. |

What is the difference between \def and \newcommand? Wow, I actually didn't know about the \end... commands not being definable by \newcommand. Always learning a new thing! |
