A computer science lecturer at University College London. I do stuff in logic, theorem proving, program analysis and verification. I'm a very enthusiastic TeX/LaTeX user, most days.

I also run a small site for LaTeX beginners in spanish: LaTeX Fácil.

comment Semantic TeX - where are we heading?
I think this is not the kind of questions this site is best suited for. The question is asking for subjective discussion and speculation, but this site works best for direct questions which often have only one objective answer.

comment How to right-align a title (without creating a complete custom title page)?
Dirty hack, but indeed gets the job done! Although I wouldn't recommend going around and writing this for every new document, as a one-off hack I really like it!

comment What is the best way to scan over a list of somethings?
Thanks for the reference! It does have some nice commands to process a list of arguments. If you don't mind I can edit your answer to include an example.

comment Why is the MacTeX distribution so large? Is there anything smaller for OS X?
Ok, this question is getting some pretty good answers, so I've edited it to make the difference from the previous question more clear and explicit.

comment Which command should I use for displayed equations?
Sounds good! This is pretty much what I already do. So is there any reason one should want to use \[ instead of equation*? Or is it better just to forget about \[ altogether?

comment Which command should I use for displayed equations?
So the answer to that question is that one should use equation and not any replacement? (none of the answers to that question have been up-voted yet)

I was trying to save on *'s on the question, and that's why I added a note, but yes I mean equation*. In any case, what about the issues raised here?
