comment Sort .bib file from within TexShop
+1 for BibDesk -- its interop with emacs and AucTex is good, meaning I can pound away in emacs, making new references at high speed without mousing, import them every now and then into BibDesk for canonicalization and cleanup, and write them back out to disk for future emacs sessions.

comment texdoc fail on mac osx: texlua requires unavailable version of libpng?
It's possible that some old MacPorts stuff needs to be cleaned out! That's a good tip for me to try, and I can try it later today.

comment Org-mode export to LaTeX: temptation or nuisance?
This is often called "literate programming" and is a fantastically powerful approach (especially if you can get a whole team to buy into it). orgmode.org/worg/org-contrib/babel/…

comment Trying to get tikz-cd going
@Qrrbrbirlbel what would the exact syntax for the ampersand replacement option be in my context -- it doesn't work in the context of the \matrix... command that I tried above.

comment Trying to get Tikz chains example working
Quite hard for me to mentally parse the code from the source web site: it does say \tikzset{join/.code=\tikzset{after node path={%, but, if I change it to \tikzset{join/.code={after node path={%, that doesn't work. I fully admit I do not understand the syntax.
