comment Workflow for converting LaTeX into Open Office / MS Word Format
Wow. I tried this; the result was on a different level than the open source or online tools I've tried, starting from LaTeX or PDF. It doesn't let you edit the PDF; rather, it converts it to an editable normal Word document. Extraoardinary. My tables become tables; text is nicely paragraphed. The equations have even been partly rendered. Congratulations to Microsoft (first time I've ever said that). I tried Libreoffice 5, which also tries the same thing, but the result is useless for me; text is not even joined into paragraphs.

comment Set image to full all available space in Beamer (without overlapping other elements)
Actually, I'm having trouble getting your example frame to respect a \setbeamercolor{background canvas}{bg=black} command. If I include a keepaspectratio option in the includegraphics call, then there is some empty space in the content area. I to be able to control the color of that space, but cannot do it the way I am used to. Can you see the reason?

Brilliant. I have kept modified versions of the beamer base definition files for years, in order to have a frametextheight. Your code is now the core of a rewrite of a set of image-frame macros. Thank you!

comment How to prevent page breaks in lists? (“Exam” class)
Thank you! Instead, I think this question tex.stackexchange.com/questions/120046/… already covers it, so I've posted there and hope that topic gets reawakened. Thanks again

@Mico.. Quite right! [I'm not sure whether it is inappropriate to add another answer below (which is as much of a question than an answer) on this page, or whether it should be a new question..]

But this still allows page breaks between the question prompt and the list of answers.

If you do that, and use the \pointsinmargin feature, the points boxes overwrite the question numbers.

comment Citation style in biblatex: (1) get rid of first names; (2) remove comma before year
@doncherry: Btw, as the offender, is there something I should do? Is it worthwhile to edit this question to restrict it to half of what I asked, and make a new one, inviting PLK to answer that too??
