comment How can I use Source Sans Pro in Tex-Live 2012?
You can follow the quick install guide to install vanilla TeX Live. Also read the additional information for Ubuntu. If you have questions about the sourcesanspro package you can ask me in the chat room. Manual install is easiest with the TDS zip. If you're brave try the development version.

comment Would using LaTex instead of LibreOffice benefit me for writing my dissertation?
@javano it is possible (and quite easy) to add comments and highlights in PDF files.

comment Reformat \frac depending on numerator/denominator size difference
Great suggestions! I've added a new version of wfrac.sty. It includes the \setparen{...}{...} and \setdiv{...} commands to change the parentheses and division mark. I've also added options: text, display, none, noparen, small, big, huge, lparen, rparen and div.

Welcome to TeX.sx! Please add a minimal working example (MWE) that illustrates your problem. It is considered a lot better to put in some code that will compile, as it makes it a lot easier for us to copy it into our text editor and work with it, and see exactly what it is you are trying to do.

comment How to apply a custom pagestyle (with titlesec package) to a part of a document
Welcome to TeX.sx! A tip: If you indent lines by 4 spaces, they'll be marked as a code sample. You can also highlight the code and click the "code" button (with "{}" on it). Also: Please add a minimal working example (MWE) that illustrates your problem. It is considered a lot better to put in some code that will compile, as it makes it a lot easier for us to copy it into our text editor and work with it, and see exactly what it is you are trying to do.

MacTeX installs it in /Applications/TeX: the TeX folder in Applications. If you don't have it you should reinstall MacTeX.
