comment Embedding videos and animations
Perhaps I'm the only one, but it took me a few error messages to realize multimedia is not automatically loaded by beamer, its distribution means notwithstanding.

comment How to redefine \hat{H} as \hat{\cal H}?
Whether or not it's possible, macro-ing away the syntax in a way such as requested is a bad idea in any language. Ultimately it is just a form of code obfuscation.

comment automatic spacing between words in math mode
@fefrei Is it really math mode you want? Or do you really want monospace type, with, e.g., \verb or the verbatim environment? The latter is more often used for code...

comment Problems using widetext.sty
This example works for me, but only if I either (1) insert a blank line before \begin{widetext} or (2) make the "Here" paragraph longer; otherwise I still get \prevdepth errors. Could this just be weirdness with my setup, or did you run into anything like this? On a related note, I've seen several forum suggestions for inserting a blank line before \begin{strip} in this widetext.sty, which helps sometimes for me.

comment Beamer bibliography in two columns on multiple frames?
I for one would still love to see a real answer here. The author of beamer worked under very specific circumstances that do not apply to all situations. Yes, it is bad form to show an audience too many references, but sometimes one is required to have a single document that contains both the primary material and a full citation list, even if the latter is not usually shown to the audience during the presentation proper. Unlike Nature papers, slide shows as scientific media are sometimes best kept as a single document.

comment math shorthand macro: avoid extra space from empty superscript
@Zack So you're using latex, but you prefer to write macros in primitive tex? And you have a solution that does exactly what you want, but the single line of code is too inelegant? As I'm sure you know, two good pieces of advice for any language are "don't reinvent the wheel" and "use comments to clarify your code."
