I have also set up an environment with ntheorem to allow a text indentation while the header is not indented. Also I want the optional text to replace the default displayed theorem name. I couldn't do this with amsthm. I thought a solution to the problem with amsthm might contribute to a solution with ntheorem. So this doesn't help me much. Many thanks anyway.

@Caramdir Me neither, at least not as simply as I thought. (This is a problem I encountered before, so I assumed it was something general) I guess I was too lazy there. I'll try to reproduce it.

This is good and helps. But I dislike the indent and margin which comes from not using the inline environment. Is there a way to solve this, too? ("separated" should begin at the same indent as "(b)" in the line below.
