comment Is there a way to systematically ignore specific error messages?
Well the trees usually come out with lines all over the page and with way too large bounding box in the first run. Then the lines are computed and stored and in the second run everything is fine. I guess the equivalent to la-la-la is enter-enter-enter, but it is no fun chanting all day long. =;-)

Yes, but the preference pane complains and says TeX Distributioncould not be loaded.

Sorry, yes, you are right. After installing texlive 2014 on Mac OS I removed the 2013 subdirectory. I reinstalled this now from a backup.

comment tikzmark and xelatex
Thanks! Would this work for all similar problems? And whom should I contact? The tikzmark package maintainer? xelatex people? pgfmaintainers?

comment Having two forest figures and using tikzmark
Yes, KomaScript tells me the same now every time I run my documents. I started to change this yesterday and it will never appear in examples here. I hope.

Oh, cool: It is a xelatex bug. It works with pdflatexbut it does not with xelatex.

A recent update seems to have brooken this (see edit in the question). What now? Shall I ask a new question about this?

comment Declaring a node to be a phantom node breaks connections between sisters in forest
But you shoud add the no edge option to the dg junction style as well. Thanks a lot! This forest stuff is so cool! It is really great in comparison to what we linguists did the decades before ...

comment Aligning forest trees and getting the bounding box right
Hm. I would like to keep the normal braces, so since the tikz decoration looks different, this solution is not optimal. The other solution suggests drawing the braces by hand. This is not a general solution and similar to adding some \vspaceas in my original proposal. A reply to one of my other questions suggested a way to fix the baseline tex.stackexchange.com/questions/206728/… I included \forestset{begin draw/.code={\begin{tikzpicture}[baseline=(current bounding box.center)]}} after \menge{ and this gets the alignment right not bb.

For examples with such constructions in the middle of the tree, one needs an additional no edge: dg junction/.style={no edge, tikz+={\draw (!p.east)--(!.west) (.east)--(!n.west);} }

Now, I got it: dg junction/.style={tikz+={\draw (!p.east)--(!.west) (.east)--(!n.west);} } Thanks! I think this will help for my other questions as well. You should add this as an answer to get the points.

comment Declaring a node to be a phantom node breaks connections between sisters in forest
I tried this: dg junction/.style={\noexpand\draw (!p.east)--(!.west) (.east)--(!n.west);} But get a complaint that draw is an undefined control sequence. Same for \path.

That did not work. It is not the space around the remaining node, but the space of the phantom node. The picture behaves as if something was there. See my edit.

Unfortunately this does not work. The connection between the nodes disappears again.

Thanks. I did this and added two no edge declarations to the V daughters. It works, but the size of the node is still added to the tree, whereas the node with ,phantom declaration does not use any space.

comment Adding a specification concerning two daughters, one with special status, in forest
Hm. I do not know what this means. The line should be right below the mother node but should have the extension of the daughters. I do not know how to do this.

Sorry, marked it as answered now. There was some exchange with Saso via email, so the solution by Saso below is not the one I am using now.

comment Replacing tree-dvips, connect nodes in a tabular environment
Is there a way to increase the distance between the nodes and the lines? I guess the boxes would have to be a bit bigger, 2 or 3 points. I played with the =< and => but this just shortens the lines rather then increasing the distance.
