comment Theorem Name/Numbering in Margin
Just to clarify: this pretty much means your document is one-sided, so it's always the left margin, not the outer margin, right?

comment Fonts with small degree of “randomness” in their shape?
I think the original postscript version would really randomly wiggle certain control points by a small amount, but then, as now, I'd not spend that kind of money on it.

comment A problem with thmtools
I'll take a look this evening. I've had advance warning that a new release of kvsetkeys would break thmtools (yet again), apparently that has been released now. Until then, the workaround is to revert to the previous version of kvsetkeys.

comment Horizontal spacing issue in \listoftheorems using amsthm + thmtools
Does putting \makeatletter\thmt@listnumwidth{4.3em}\makeatother help? I'm not 100% clear which space you mean (and haven't looked at that code for a while either).

comment Obtaining the location of the document class
Your problem is really how to install packages locally, you shouldn't need to put a path in the documentclass in the first place. Once the class is found by the natural way, chances are, the rest will be picked up, too.

comment Hyphenation in Beamer Presentations
Yes, it is disabled. IIRC, the standpoint on this (which one may or may not disagree with) is "if you need automatic hyphenation, you have too much text on your slides; and, like a heading, every slide warrants manual hyphenation".
