I'm a PhD candidate in analysis (harmonic analysis). I have a Master of Science degree in mathematics (analysis).

I am interested in many topics in analysis, but in particular: harmonic analysis, functional analysis, operator theory and special functions.

Oct 22	comment	How to make compilation faster? About twenty to thirty seconds perhaps. Which aspect makes the question "not real"? The workflow in 1986 was probably way different than nowadays when I want to see rather 1-1 what I am doing. Anyway, for one of the closers, what aspects make it not a real question? "overly broad" is the only thing I might agree with for now, any others are then due to my lack of explaining the issue properly.

But, now it is a core 2 duo and it seems strange that compiling a document should last that long on such a computer :-). Of course, that is a solution, and perhaps not such a bad one. But I feel like I should be able to use the available resources better before I throw more iron at it mmmkay. Also, if I'm at my office, I doubt they will grant me a new computer just because my document takes too long to compile. "Word doesn't have any problems!"
Oct 21	comment	How to make compilation faster? Right, that will help already a bit :-). But, I was more like thinking about some format which makes it easy to only recompile small pieces instead of the complete thing :-).
Oct 21	comment	How to make compilation faster? @cmhughes Does .dvi support all the pdf features too? Perhaps, I do not need those for the draft, but I use a pdf viewer, perhaps due to inertia. Also, it might be the case that I have .pdf images. Will that work?

Oct 9	comment	Automatic branching for versions and git The idea is that I only modify the main file and the generated files do not have the goal to be merged (otherwise I could use latexdiff if I really wanted to), but more to send to people so they can start working on it. More like a fork. Most mathematicians do not use git.

Oct 9	comment	Automatic branching for versions and git @Seamus The fact that simple conditions are fine to compile different versions, but I not only want simple conditions, I also want the content removed when it is put in another branch. The `.tex` should not contain the stuff which does not satisfy the conditional. Those different ones could be put in another branch.

Jul 22	comment	Testing if \BODY is empty in Environ Great. This is what I have changed in the end! I also added the `capitalize` of the `stringstring` package. One issue was that I would like to mix the commands `makesection` and `defenviron`. The problem is of course that after multiple inputs I will get errors! Perhaps I need to have a test that checks if this is already done. After that I can iterate over an `etoolbox` list. That worked but gave errors about something not being found while it was typeset. In any case, that would be a new question!
