comment positioning a node relative to multiple nodes
Or just \path (A) -- node[place] (E) {E} (C); which doesn't use calc library.

comment pgfplots: use foreach inside addplot
Not sure to understand it, but if you know the plotted function, a coordinate on it is just (x, f(x)). Why do you need to find an intersection point? Take a look at "Accessing Axis Coordinates in Graphical Elements" in pgfplots documentation

comment define colorebox with chapter
Welcome to TeX.SX! Please make your code compilable (if possible), or at least complete it with \documentclass{...}, the required \usepackage's, \begin{document}, and \end{document}. That may seem tedious to you, but think of the extra work it represents for TeX.SX users willing to give you a hand. Help them help you: remove that one hurdle between you and a solution to your problem.

comment Help with size of an image for a book
@AndreeaAlistar Sorry for the dealy. It was my mistake, I forgot to load load package background with option pages=some (\usepackage[pages=some]{background}) which forces to use \BgThispage in pages where backgroundsetup should appear. I've updated the answer accordingly.
