Ah it was the '\TableOfContents' vs '\tableofcontents' thing that caught me out. Thanks!

I'm not what I'm doing wrong, but I'm getting a the full contents repeated in the second volume. However, when I copy your minimum working example in to a new script and compile, it works. I am most perplexed.

This works pretty well. However, it doesn't change the numbering system of the appendix volume. Also, after viewing the results of this method, I've decided that it would look better if the first volume has the full toc but the second appendix volume only has a toc covering the appendices in it. Are these simple fixes?

Thanks Ted, Qrrbrbirlbel. Adding \usepackage{circuitikz} to the preamble/compiler settings worked.

@lockstep I'm not entirely sure it is a duplicate. It's only maybe a quarter duplicate since the linked question didn't give me the \&\space I needed in the first half, and didn't answer any of the second half of my question :) But I'm happy to defer to experience :)

Well that seems to work, thanks @cgnieder. Knew it wasn't a big ask but didn't expect it to be so simple. I guess it helps when you know what you're doing ;) Do you want to write that up as an answer so I can accept it?
