comment Reproduce lhs2tex’s code indentation in LaTeX
I was referring to 5.6, Automatic formatting (at least in v1.5e of the doc), but you're right: what you can do with listings in that respect pales in comparison to lhs2tex.

I'm not sure whether that's what you're looking for, but the listings package can perform some code formatting; see section 5.6 of the manual.

comment Setting up TexMaker on Mac to work with biber
@kwy It's been a while since I last used Texmaker, but I think you can either select it and then press the arrow to run just the new "biber" command, or your can go into Texmaker's settings to configure your Quick Build to run "biber".

comment Listing package making one long dash from multiple dashes (also breaks margins)
@bobharris You can enable line breaking, as suggested by Torbjørn T., or you may want to tweak the width and font size of your listings to avoid the need for line breaks.

comment How to use the degree symbol in programming listing?
For one thing, you should have a line break after \begin{lstlisting}; otherwise, you'll get a compile error. Also, could you include the exact error you're getting from LyX?

comment How to use the degree symbol in programming listing?
Welcome to TeX.SX! Please help us help you and add a minimal working example (MWE) that illustrates your problem. Reproducing the problem and finding out what the issue is will be much easier when we see compilable code, starting with \documentclass{...} and ending with \end{document}.
