I'm currently writing my PhD thesis; my research revolves around optimisation and control problems related to renewable-energy systems. I also teach an undergraduate course on numerical methods and their implementation in Matlab (Python is winning me over, though).

I'm the author of the matlab-prettifier LaTeX package, which aims at typesetting Matlab listings in a way that faithfully replicates the syntax highlighting of the Matlab editor; see here for an example.

In my spare time, I try to expand my programming horizons and endeavour to become a Git guru.

comment How to number the letters of a sentence?
Are we talking about characters or letters? Some characters actually represent two letters. Example: "œ" in "œuf" (French word for "egg").

@dustin matlab-prettifier is now part of both Tex Live 2014 and MiKTeX. Do you still have problems using it?

comment How to do “Medicinal Plant Fact Sheet” in LaTeX
As it stands, your question is much too broad to fit the format of TeX.SX. You must narrow it down, break down the problem into atomic questions, such as "How can I typeset the handwritten annotations?"

comment embedding listing code into tables?
Note that there is a semantic problem, though: "default (no qualifier specified)" is not code.

Please make your code compilable (if possible), or at least complete it with \documentclass{...}, the required \usepackage's, \begin{document}, and \end{document}. That may seem tedious to you, but think of the extra work it represents for TeX.SX users willing to give you a hand. Help them help you: remove that one hurdle between you and a solution to your problem.
