Currently learning Haskell...

As a Git user since mid 2013 and an educator at heart, I'm interested in efficient ways of teaching Git. One of my side projects is a pedestrian, no-nonsense tutorial for people who are new to version control, which I plan to make available online... at some stage.

I've also written a couple of packages for LaTeX & friends:

  • gitdags, a package for producing pretty Git history graphs meant for educational purposes.

  • matlab-prettifier, a package for typesetting Matlab listings in a way that faithfully replicates the syntax highlighting of the Matlab editor.

  • sclang-prettifier, a package for prettyprinting SuperCollider source code; see here for an example.

  • lstautodedent, an add-on for the listings package that allows you to automatically remove indentation in both embedded and standalone listings.

  • xcolor-solarized, a package that simply defines the 16 colours from Ethan Schoonover's widely popular Solarized colour palette for use in documents typeset with LaTeX & friends.

  • More TBA...

comment Why do minus signs vanishes in listings typeset with matlab-prettifier?
@FarticlePilter Yes; I can confirm the problem. Incidentally, this happens with listings, irrespective of whether matlab-prettifier be used or not. Perhaps it would be best to reword your question accordingly, to make it more general.

comment Why do minus signs vanishes in listings typeset with matlab-prettifier?
@FarticlePilter It must be caused by some interaction with another package. Try adding, in this MWE, the packages that you load in your actual document (one by one), and see which one causes - to disappear.

Please help us to help you and add a minimal working example (MWE) that illustrates your problem. It will be much easier for us to reproduce your situation and find out what the issue is when we see compilable code, starting with \documentclass{...} and ending with \end{document}.

comment Argument of lstlisting
This question appears to be off-topic because the problem simply stems from a misunderstanding of the LaTeX syntax for optional arguments.

comment Argument of lstlisting
As you've defined it, your pascal environment takes a mandatory argument, not an optional one. You need to write \lstnewenvironment{pascal}[1][]{\lstset{language=pascal, #1} }{} (note the [] that I've added). Then specify your optional argument (or not) in square brackets after \begin{pascal}.

comment Changing overbrace width in mathjax?
While mathjax uses LaTeX syntax, it uses Javascript and HTML's DOM model rather than TeX technology, making it mostly off topic for this site. You might try instead searching among the questions tagged with mathjax on StackOverflow, or in the official mathjax-users Google group.

comment Unnecessary line break with listings and prebreak
@BrianSutton String literals are just one example of many cases where listings may introduce syntactically incorrect line breaks. Also, the line breaking performed by listings has nothing to do with the line breaking normally performed by TeX.

comment Unnecessary line break with listings and prebreak
No offense, but using prebreak=\space... is a really bad idea, if only because listings may introduce line breaks at places where the MATLAB syntax doesn't allow it (e.g. inside a string literal). That would make your MATLAB listings look incorrect.
