It would be good if the title remained with the two words separated. I think one possible way is by \let\@tempb\@tempa at the start and then putting \modulespec{\@tempb} instead?

@JosephWright Removing the spaces is not an absolute requirement, I think there are few enough commands to define them by hand.

Yes, footnotetext is very handy in these kinds of situations! I use it mostly to avoid complications with tables and to allow one footnote to cover multiple columns. Glad that it works!

I redid the answer without mdframed to get the title right, using a minipage to ensure that the box can never be broken across the page.
