Do you have an example? I have a few ideas (if you still want to use \bottomrule), but a working example would help me know if they're any good.

comment How to create fancy table of equations (to be typeset before the equations are rendered in text)
Unfortunately not, I'm really after having the equations themselves in the table, and I can't find a way to use \addcontentsline to create a table or something similar with the maths in. Maybe an answer based on the source code for \addcontentsline would be helpful, but I can't find that either!

Just curious, why is there no \makeatother in this solution. Is it not always needed?

The code compiles fine on my machine. Could you provide a picture of the problem so it's easier to see what's missing?

Could you provide a MWE (minimum working example)? It would make it a lot easier to understand your question.

That is awesome! Is there a way to create a macro such that it calculates all the values based user input? E.g if I \customput{0}{0} it could place a box at (0,0) and (0,4)? The only way I can think of is counters, but then I'd have to create a counter for every instance of the macro (and use the calc package), kind of defeating the point of having the macro.

Possible duplicate of tex.stackexchange.com/questions/66349/…, although the answer was not spelt out, only pointed to. Also, this behaviour is still bizarre.
