comment How to set up automatic build in Emacs
perhaps not quite automatic - but have a look at auctex gnu.org/software/auctex and how it can simplify the workflow - I use it with okular as a pdf viewer which automatically refreshes every time I recompile

comment Using Beamer bullets in poster
this post tex.stackexchange.com/questions/58633/… shows how to draw a 3D ball using tikz; you should then be able to set this as your 'bullet' in a list

comment Defining the minimal amount of space around an operator
you can tweak some of the default spaces, e.g. \setlength{\medmuskip}{0.5mu} \setlength{\thinmuskip}{1mu} \setlength{\thickmuskip}{2mu} or something like \thickmuskip=4.4mu plus 3mu minus 1mu \medmuskip=3.6mu plus 2mu minus 3mu - found this somewhere when trying to do something similar, but can't remember where

comment booktabs with multicol: horizontal rules too short
thank you VERY much - can't believe I didn't spot this; normally I'd expect to get an error about too few columns on compilation in this scenario

comment How to reduce white space above/around R-Plot in LaTeX-Beamer document
I am not familiar with spatstat -but some R packages have their own settings with redefine par() commands you've set & you might be encountering a case of that

comment How to reduce white space above/around R-Plot in LaTeX-Beamer document
this might be more of an R than LaTeX question ... R allows you to set margins via the par option - the defaults are quite large - e.g. par(mar=c(0.1,0.1,0.1,0.1) )

comment PDF Colour Space and ConTeXt
what happens if you uncomment %\pdfpageattr{/Group << /S /Transparency /I true /CS /DeviceRGB>>} ? I thought that was meant to counter-act the transparency bug in acroread.

comment tikzposter text justification in blocks
typically the columns in a poster (particularly in portrait mode) are fairly narrow - so a ragged right margin tends to look better than justified; try align=justify in the specs for your nodes

comment Installing a handwriting fonts for LaTeX in Ubuntu
the link you gives show the directory http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/fundus/la/ - in it you find the file la.ins. Download it. Using the command latex la.ins then will generate la.sty for you.

comment biblatex: List of publications in the CV
have a look at the bibunits package; if you split your .bib file into separate parts for journals and conference papers, you can use the \nocite{*} command for each.
