Lecturer in applied mathematics, with a rough idea of how to use (La)TeX. Specialities include dirty hacks and using texdoc very quickly.

comment Elementary question about new environment
@user41063 --- How would you do this without environ? Adding \textsc to the example is trivial; I have edited the answer.

I don't think T1 is a valid option for inputenc.

comment Using \eqno in math mode
@DavidCarlisle --- I'm not sure my comment amounts to an answer, because I can't reproduce the original error. Let's wait and see what the OP says when she returns.

I can't reproduce the error you mention. I can see problems with your code, though. 1. In the context you are using them, you don't need \ before ] or }. 2. You are missing a close brace in the last part of the equation. 3. You can only have two ampersands per line in an eqnarray.

I don't understand what you mean by 'something for the whole equation'. Can you explain further? It looks to me as though the answers linked by @TorbjørnT. provide exactly what you need.

comment align* but show one equation number at the end
@magu_ Please post a new question with an example showing exactly what you want. I think I understand your question, but I'm not 100% sure. Also, other users (who may have better solutions than me) will see the new question, whereas they are unlikely to see new comments here.

comment LaTex error: missing \endcsname inserted
This question appears to be off-topic because it is about a highly localised problem with the OP's TeX installation.

Delete every automatically generated file (.aux, .toc, etc.) and try again.

@DavidCarlisle --- it's Friday and I've had a few beers. Otherwise I would have known that the blame lay elsewhere.

comment A problem with revtex4 and colortbl
The problem seems to be with the colortbl package; your example works without it. I'm not yet sure why this is though.

comment Chemnum/PSfrag - Replacement of Characters in eps
Can you make the .eps file available for download from somewhere? Without this file it's hard to diagnose the problem.

Try deleting the .aux file. Failing that, edit your question so that it includes a complete example which reproduces the problem. Without this it will be difficult for anyone to help you.
