Lecturer in applied mathematics, with a rough idea of how to use (La)TeX. Specialities include dirty hacks and using texdoc very quickly.

comment Page breaks within the cases environment
Actually, you could try using \allowdisplaybreaks (see section 3.9 of the amsmath package documentation). Failing that, we really need an example. Welcome to TeX.SX, by the way.

Please edit your question and post an example code which illustrates the problem. Without this it may be difficult for anyone to help you.

TeX ignores single line breaks. Format your file however you want!

comment Converting a {classicthesis} book into a .doc file
Maybe you should ask the committee member (politely) if (s)he really needs it in word format. (S)he could easily make notes on a pdf copy.

@DavidCarlisle --- I didn't know that \section changed \everypar. No doubt there are a few other things as well.

Use section and subsection rather than section* and subsection*.

comment Software/Programm: latex-based math trainer
Can you explain why you need/want LaTeX based software for this? There are computer algebra systems out there (Maple, Mathematica), but their syntax is quite different to LaTeX.
