comment Group bibliography by year and show header as cventry in moderncv
it seems that the problem is with my bibliography style as it does not show anything on the left of each reference entry (even without this hack).

Sorry for the late reply. I tried this solution as it is but it does not work as expected. I mean, if I use your MWE it does work but in my model it doesn't. That's why I was taking some time to reply because I wanted to figure out where the problem was. In my preamble I use three packages to setup the bibliography jabbrv (not in CTAN) and multibib and I don't use unsrtdin for bibliography style.

comment Moderncv with moderntimeline - how do I center the label above the timeline?
this post quite shows my problem and provides a possible solution. However, I would like something more automatic that would adjust/float accordingly to its position in hintscolumn and time scale used. I just opened a new question.

is there a way to "tune" this hack so the label remains on the left or right side (depending of its position in the timeline) but it is aligned (or flushed) to the limits of hintscolumnwidth and does not cross over of its maximum dimensions. (I hope you can understand without a visual example...)

comment Sorted list of publications in moderncv from bibtex
@ChristianClason I've thought about that but I wanted something different. Do you think we could work with biblabel (\renewcommand\bibliographyitemlabel{\@biblabel{XXX}}) and perhaps display the value from year.or.none instead of XXX? Perhaps I must start a new question...

comment Sorted list of publications in moderncv from bibtex
@ChristianClason I love the final output! However, in my case I am using multibib to show different bibliographies (ex, oral presentations, poster, etc) and I use \newcites so I can have different bibliography headings to distinguish them. The problem is, because you remove the thebibliography environment I lost the headings!! Do you have a quick suggestion to put them back?

comment How to emphasize some author names using BibTeX?
My solution is handy if there is some entries in your bibliography that don't need to be highlight. If you prefer to have the students name highlighted throughout the CV you may consider adding a list with the names instead of using the FUNCTION{student.author}. In fact, you can set up a way to retrieve those names from the main.tex file where it will be more easy to you to add/update the students' list.

comment Underline different authors in the bibliography by hacking BST file
I've noticed that if I include: \textbf or \emph or \underline in the .bib file for the specific/speaker author, that information will show "almost" correct output BUT some of the author style (or maybe all) will be lost, for instances the use of dots for forenames.

Gerrit, thank you for your comment. I don't mind doing something different to the text, I just want a way to systematically doing so where I only have to say which (presenting) author/name is to be typographically distinct from everything else.
