@Malipivo I think you should ask a new question, too complicated for a comment, I guess. Are you running the code as is? Fontspec does not use the tex kerning and ligaturing I guess, so yes, there will be none of these with the code above. One would have to call the low level equivalents of these.

@user89 perhaps the didn't help the OP in the given situation? Even if the answer is "good", it might not solve a problem - perhaps because of side effects. But it might also be that the OP is careless... I don't know.
