comment Writing the size of a Tikz node to a file
An additional question: is there a way to modify the unit (pt) in which the length is expressed, for instance cm?

@PaulGaborit: yes! that's it! Many thanks. If you write a short answer, I will accept it. Can you explain what the difference is between \the and \showthe?

@PaulGaborit: better? I considered it to be noise to add additional (bit trivial) commands, since it shifts the attention away from the vital parts.

comment Kile script that processes TeX output

@cfr: what pdf viewer do you use? Sometimes I had problems rendering a pdf correctly. Especially pdf.js tends to mess up things (no offense).

comment Most useful/important (La)TeX commands/environments
Actually, it's quite probable that in order to use Word or LibreOffice, the number of commands is larger: the number of buttons is overwhelming. It's really strange someone can work in such environment. I recently read someone had made a text-editor with no buttons (only shortcuts) simply to have some peace.

Is there a way to omit the \item command and use the new line as an implicit \item?

comment Showcase of beautiful typography done in TeX & friends
@Raphink: Well it was no offense or anything ;). The books I've seen (including some printed in the late 1700s) use a lowercase letter after the lettrine, but that probably means it differs with cultures I guess.

Is it common that the second letter of the first word of a paragraph is a capital letter as well? Like "APres"?
