Word 2010 on typesetting math If you're trying to avoid bias, a website called "tex.stackexchange.com" might not be your best bet either. But I empathize with your frustration. It sounds to me like you are just waiting for someone to tell you will be all right if you go with Word. I guess it partly depends on what you intend to do in the future. For instance, do you intend to pursue graduate studies in math or some math-heavy science? |

MS Word font size matching visually the latex default one @MikeRenfro The default LaTeX font is Computer Modern, which I think is less compact than Times. Aubergine: One solution, if you don't necessarily need the default LaTeX font, is to just use Times or Palatino or something in your final document. Both of those are very easy to use in both LaTeX and Word. |

Rule in the header "doesn't have the same length of the text": is this the only reason why you don't want to use fancyhdr? I don't see anything wrong with the length of the header rules when I use fancyhdr. |

What colors are good to use for graphs and figures in scientific publications that print well in black and white? This might depend on the printer, I think. By the way, if you're using something like TikZ, with a little work you should be able to set up two color schemes, one for black-and-white printing and one for color printing, that you can just switch between by changing a line in the preamble. |

As an expert, can you always use TeX for (nearly) any kind of document? I just wanted to chime in that I use LaTeX for anything people normally use MS Word or Open Office for (letters, homework), and I am definitely not "an expert". |

How would I create verb conjugation charts? If you're doing this a lot, I would also recommend looking into ways of incorporating foreign languages in your documents without having to type \'e every time you mean "é". |

How would I create verb conjugation charts? Just thought you should know: Using Werner's template, it is possible to make your life a lot easier if you're doing the same charts for many verbs (if they're regular, anyway) by putting the whole thing into a custom command. Then you will be able to just say something like \conjugate{beber} or \conjugate{comer} for any regular -er verb you want, and it'll produce the entire chart for you. |
